The absolute best! We came back twice on our short stay in Split. The most authentic food with fresh caught fish from the market, menu is different everyday. The atmosphere in the kitchen area is fantastic with chatty chefs.

How fortunate we are to get a table for 8! The staff was so friendly, we had so many questions about the menu and they answered all of them! The small cozy atmosphere is exactly what we are looking for. This is by far our favorite meal as a group while in Croatia. Amazing food, great vibes and the best service!

Amazing place - local, traditional and tasty food in a lovely setting. Had to wait 15 mins for a table, but well worth it! Had the fish stew, hake, chicken stew and thinly sliced steak. Extremely friendly staff, who juggled well in a very popular restaurant.

The place smelled amazing from the street and turns out it was coming from the place we had read about on several pages. My boyfriend got the veal liver and I got the hake with polenta. Both mains were tender and delicious and worth the wait. The place was busy. It has two locations across the street from another. The mood of the kitchen staff was jovial and relaxing. We really enjoyed our meal. We would happily come back here again.

On a mangé de super produits locaux dans ce restaurant. Le fromage et la salade étaient excellents. Il y avait tellement de saveurs dedans. Les langoustines étaient à tomber. Elles sont d’une fraîcheur !!! La sauce est délicieuse. Ça se sent quand c’est cuisiné avec amour. Prévoir du cash.

This is a popular restaurant with no reservations. Food prepared is fresh and the items on the menu are available till the ingredients last. We had the Dalmatian prosciutto, fried squid and sea bass. The taste is quite fresh.

A lovely small family owned restaurant and heads up, it is cash only there.<br><br>We enjoyed our very first meal in Split at this restaurant. I went for the sardines starter as never had them before and they were delicious! I then went for the calamari as my starter and it was a very unique meal that I enjoyed a lot!<br><br>Service was great and I couldn't recommend this place more if fancy some home-style cooked meals!

One of the BEST food I've had in my life. Villa Spiza is truly a unique gem: their menu changes daily and it is in handwriting, once a dish runs out for the day it's done which means everything is fresh.<br>We went two nights out of our 3 in Split and every dish we tried was absolutely perfect, delicious, unique and flavourful, we couldn't get enough of it.<br><br>We were lucky to seat at the bar facing the kitchen. It was fascinating to see the chef preparing every single dish from scratch.<br><br>Amaya was amazing, friendly and patient with us as we asked a lot of questions about the food. On our second night she was welcoming and she made us feel like home. Thanks Amaya for a great experience (we are the "Tiramisu" girls :)<br><br>If you are in Split you HAVE to go to this restaurant.<br><br>I hope more restaurants were like Villa Spiza: truly commited to deliver an outstanding food experience to their customers.

Super kleines, aber feines Restaurant. Der Service war sehr freundlich und hat zwischendurch Späße mit den Gästen gemacht. Man muss jedoch Glück haben einen Platz zu ergattern, zu den Stoßzeiten könnte es schwierig werden. Das Essen war absolut hervorragend. Wir hatten das Thunfisch Steak und Pasta mit Zucchini und Gambas. Die Karte ist auch klein und zwischenzeitlich hat der Chef Gerichte gestrichen, woran zu sehen ist, dass sehr frisch und nicht auf Masse eingekauft und gekocht wird! TOP!!

If you are looking for a small family-run restaurant with local dishes made with simple and fresh ingredients, then Villa Spiza is the place for you.<br>It's quite a small restaurant, so it gets crowded very quickly however, we went there around 5pm and it was super quiet so we didn't have to wait.<br>I ordered the Dalmatian Prosciutto, wich was served with bread, olives, salad, and the most amazing sun dried tomatoes I ever had in my life. The prosciutto was so tasty, I thoroughly enjoyed it and the portion was quite generous. As main, I had the tuna pasta which was so tasty, it honestly reminded me of the tuna pasta my mum makes at home back in Italy!<br>Please be aware that payments are cash only, so make sure you have cash with you.

Fantastic food, vibes and service. This is an excellent restaurant if you are a solo traveler because there is individual counter seating on the kitchen side of the restaurant (“split” into two buildings on two sides of the street) where you can watch the chef at work. Dinner and a show! Staff were friendly and genuinely seemed to be having fun. Great experience and delicious food. I had the squid and a cheese plate. Tiramisu looked amazing.

It's not just the high quality of the food (the freshness of the local fish, mouthwatering flavors added thanks to the incredible seasoning, or taste of the local wine) but the entire dining experience.<br><br>I was a solo female traveler and had the great fortune of getting seated at the corner spot of the bar, with a perfect vantage point to watch the restaurant's open kitchen operations. Friendly servers making recommendations and taking orders, an assistant prepping salads and plating, a dish washer managing to surpass the speed at which new hungry customers were walking in, always managing to have fresh kitchenware and cutlery ready for the next order.<br><br>But the biggest marvel of all is undoubtedly the chef. One person, six stovetop burners, singlehandedly preparing every single hot dish for the entire restaurant, from seasoning and marinating fresh meat and fish to expertly cooking each dish to perfection--simultaneously. This is for a handwritten menu that changes daily based on the local catch, and over the two nights I was there, not a single dish was over/under cooked. In fact, he was so focused in his magic that he didn't look up once until I interrupted him to tell him how impressive it all was (and my hope that he could eventually have a rest and get some dinner himself!). Even with his laser focus on his work, he immediately recognized me on my second visit and his kindness and warmth made me feel at home despite being the only solo diner in the restaurant.<br><br>Somehow in the midst of all this activity, the team stayed chilled out, singing along to the jams being played, joking around with one another, and making everyone feel like they're a guest for a home cooked meal (local or foreigner). Dining at Villa Spiza teaches every visitor the embodiment of the local values: a deep connection to the sea, strong family ties, an appreciation for history and heritage, and a lifestyle of relaxation and reminder to be content in the present moment.<br><br>The burrata, seabass, and tiramisu were each the best I had ever had and I can't wait to return. Amazing! Couldn't be better!<br>I went for lunch today as my friend recommended me the place. I just entered the place and super nice guy approached me explaining the menu. Turned out he is the main chef! He helped me choose my food, was checking on me if I need anything and the food, oh my gosh!<br>I had zubatac fish with mashed potatoes and swiss chard as a side dish. Everything was perfect, nice flavors, fresh, super nice seasonings.<br>Pure orgasm.<br>Must have when in Split, definitely.<br><br>You can also watch the chef while preparing your food, they have open kitchen which is super cool.

On sent qu'on est dans un restaurant authentique, avec une vraie envie de proposer de la bonne cuisine. Il faut venir tôt car il n'y a pas beaucoup de places et on ne peut pas réserver. Le fromage proposé en entrée est INCROYABLE et assez généreux en quantité pour être partagé a deux. Le poisson pris en plat (du dentex, je connaissais pas avant) était très bon également, moins fans des accompagnements. Mais l'important était le poisson et j'en étais ravie. Le service est très bien et les serveurs sont très gentils !
