Stopped in after a recommendation by our VRBO host as located close to our apartment. Risotto with chicken and grilled salmon outstanding. Very reasonably priced house white wine as well. Located in a nice alleyway so quiet and away from congested areas. Highly recommend.

Mosquito is a wonderful gem in the middle of the Old City of Split. We stumbled upon the location while exploring the narrow streets and alleys of the ancient city and were immediately intrigued by the extensive menu. Local fare, local ingredients and local deliciousness! We decided to give the restaurant a go and we were not disappointed. Dino, our host/maitre de/ server was exceptional. Knowledgeable, courteous, friendly and amusing, he made our dining experience exceptional. Come and enjoy! A wide menu to accommodate all tastes and appetites, dine alfresco, wonderful ambiance, lovely drinks. Don’t miss out. We came back twice.<br>Jim and Mary

The sea bass with grilled vegetables was super fresh and flavorful! The chocolate lava cake made a perfect ending to my quality dinner. Dino was my attentive waiter. If I had more time in Split, Croatia, I could dine here every night!

My husband and I are on our honeymoon and dined here on our last night in Split. I had the homemade gnocchi and it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had - definitely the best gnocchi! The server was so nice and accommodating as well. My husband wanted to try Croatian gin, and our server went next door to the gin bar and brought back what he said was Croatia’s best gin. The atomosphere is adorable as well, beautiful outdoor dining on a quiet side street. We definitely recommend!

I ordered sea bass but was served sea bream instead. When I raised the concern, the waiter kept insisting it was sea bass, which was very disappointing.<br>Mistakes can happen, but denying them feels dishonest and unprofessional. The fish itself was cooked well, but being given the wrong dish and not having it acknowledged really ruined the experience.

The grilled whitefish was delicious. Mussels, clams, potatoes, red peppers, and zucchini grilled to perfection with the fish and wrapped in paper. Fantastic!

Food was decent, but the portions were quite small. I had quid, which was very good, but the vegetables were burnt. Outside seating has beautiful atmosphere, hindered a bit by the waiters smoking and drinking bear near the restaurant entrance.

It’s the best seafood restaurant I’ve tried here. The waiter Marco was so nice, we laughed and shared a great moment with him. Once again, the food is excellent, and the setting is beautiful. People are chatting, the dishes smell great, the atmosphere is there, everything is perfect. I highly recommend it.

If you are in split please visit Mosquito. We visited many restaurants and they were all amazing, especially the staff. Mosquito, however, truly felt like family; like home. The Croatian people are so welcoming and feel like family, I hope to see the day this place doesn’t become corporate and we continue to treat them as such. Thank you Dino and Luca for such an amazing dinner. We will remember your warmth and charisma FOREVER. Please come to Mosquito. Mosquito, you’re just what my heart needed. We spotted this restaurant while strolling through the quieter streets in the walls of Diocletians palace. The waiter was really friendly telling us about some popular dishes so we came back for dinner.<br><br>It was quiet when we arrived but filled out by the end of dinner.<br>We had the Soparnik as a starter which was recommended by the waiter (it’s a popular local dish) and this was delicious! For mains we had the Steak with Roquefort sauce and Pašticada. Both dishes were very tasty, and I am very fussy with my Paštidada’s being a Croatian. We then finished off with the chocolate lava cake, which also was tasty.<br>The only suggestion I would have is if they had a scoop of vanilla ice cream to go with it, just to cool down on such a hot day.<br><br>The waiter Marko was a really friendly, nice and chatty guy. He really livened up the evening. Between him and his colleague they had a very busy night.<br><br>All in all this was a great find and we are happy to have stumbled across it. I think the only disappointing bit is that when we went to pay the card machine apparently had been down all day, so one of us had to go find an ATM to get cash out. It would have been good if we were notified ahead of time. But all I can say is maybe ask if their card machine is working in case you need to get some cash out.
